 "What's In The Box"

Hello fellow RC enthusiasts from around the World, I hope you are all well.

I know I said my next project would be the Kyosho Javelin, but this buggy came up for sale on EBay for a great price and I could not resist buying it. As you can see it is the Team Associated RC10 4WD kit. I paid £261 for the kit.

 I don't plan on building it until later in the year as I have bought it as a Christmas present for myself. I hope I can wait until then to build it...

Although I can't build the buggy yet, we can have a look inside the box and see what the kit entails...

The kit was delivered at 9am this morning and was enclosed in an outer protective box.

Upon opening the box I was greeted by this beautiful box.

The team Associated RC10 4WD in it's the box. The box is actually quite heavy for such a small package.

The box is brimming with lovely parts. Time to take out the packages and see what we have.

There are 10 bags marked A to J.

Also in the box is the iconic "Gold Pan" chassis, as well as the lexan body shell,

a small bag of allen keys (or hex wrenches for our American friends),

some shims for the motor,

and finally the decals/window masks (or stickers) for the lexan body.

Now let us have a closer look at the 10 packages and see what I can identify in the bags...

In Bag "A" was a gold front plate and what looks like the steering mechanism. As you can see on the label, the bag has a weight of 67.80 grams.

Bag "B" seems to have more steering parts, some ball races and a Gold motor mount. This bag is quite heavy and weighs 229.45 grams.

Bag "C" have some bottom arms, some pivot balls and some other components I cannot seem to identify. The bag is quite heavy weighing in at 154.65 grams.

The only thing I can identify in bag "D" was a shock tower. This bag has a weight of 83.5 grams.

Bag "E" contains another 2 bottom arms (I'm not sure if they are the front or back lower arms), more ball races and some washers. This bag is quite heavy and weighs 109.80 grams.

Bag "F" contains the ball pivot ends. This bag is very light and only weighs 37.85 grams.

The contents of bag "G" were easy to identify. The bag contains everything needed to build up the shock absorbers including the shock bodies, shock pistons, springs and shock absorber oil. As you can imagine this bag weighs quite a lot at 141.8 grams.

Bag "H" seems to contain the battery holder and some fixing bolts. The bag is quite light and only weighs 65.60 grams.

Bag "I" contains more pivot balls, more washers and other components I cannot identify. There can't be a lot more than that as the bag only weighs 18.65 grams.

Bag "J" was another easy bag of components to identify as it contains the tyres, wheels and the wheel spinners as well as other plastic components such as the lights. This is quite a heavy bag weighing in at 268.05 grams.

And that is the end of the components in the box other than an antenna tube that was also supplied. The only thing not supplied in the kit was some thread lock, so I will have to buy some.

The amount of components needed to complete this buggy seems a little daunting however, I'm sure it will be easy enough when I start it. I have watched some videos on Youtube regarding the build and it looks straight forward.
