Kyosho Javelin Part 1.
10/11/2025
Hello fellow RC enthusiasts from around the world, I hope you are well.
In this post I will be showing you the parts I have purchased to build a gold chassis Kyosho Javelin. As you may be aware, the Javelin has a silver chassis supplied in the kit but I want to customise my Javelin to make it a little bit special. The gold chassis parts are unique to the Turbo Optima, but they are available to purchase separately, yet they are quite expensive as are all Kyosho parts. The metal parts on the Optima/Javelin are extensive and to change every metal part on the Javelin will cost a small fortune. I will also need to change the red shock absorbers for some gold replacements to go with the gold chassis parts.
I will not be buying the Javelin kit until possibly January 2026 due to Christmas looming and I need to buy presents for my children but I will be gathering parts before I buy the kit.
The first thing I have purchased is the full gold alloy chassis set. The set was £98 but, it was a lot cheaper than buying each part separately. I did research buying each part on it's own but the cost came to £150 for the whole set, so I bit the bullet and bought the kit (OTW134). The kit comes with everything you need for the chassis except for the "centre under guard" that goes along the bottom.
The OTW134 kit comes with all the components shown in the above picture. As you can see there are quite a few components included in the kit.
The "centre under guard" (OTW133GB) costs another £25.
As the Javelin has a cage instead of a bodyshell, the gold chassis will be on display so I thought I would add some further detail to the chassis and add the gold nerf bars to the cage and these cost another £25.
I also needed 4 gold shockers to replace the standard red kit shocks supplied in the kit and I bought these shockers
My total spend so far is now £175 and that is without buying the Javelin kit. I am also going to be using different wheels and tyres for the build, so that will be another cost.
As I said, I cannot afford to buy the Javelin kit until the New Year but that is only a few weeks away. As soon as I have the kit, I will start the build and obviously I will take pictures of the whole build for your perusal.
Until then, please take care and feel free to check out my other posts.
